“Color Ripple” is born from a deep – seated fascination with the flowing rhythm of natural colors. When sunlight penetrates the dense jungle, the light spilling through the gaps between leaves interweaves with the colorful hues on the blades, rippling like colorful waves. Or when a stream flows over moss – covered stones, the water carries light and shadow, forming a dynamic scene of color blending. These agile changes of colors in nature become the core inspiration for creation.

This work aims to capture the poetic moment of color flow, freezing the wonderful state of colors permeating and 晕染 (blending) in nature on the canvas. It is hoped that when viewers gaze at the painting, it can arouse their perception of the subtle beauty of nature. As if being in a corner of nature where colors flow, they can temporarily leave the hustle and bustle, immerse themselves in the tranquility and reverie brought by the color ripples, and feel the healing power that the rhythm of nature bestows on the soul.

Creative Opportunity

During a spring hike, I reached a secluded stream deep in the mountains. Just as the sun was piercing through the morning mist, the stream, blocked by stones, formed a gurgling whirlpool. Under the impact of the water, the colors of the moss and fallen leaves at the bottom, together with the golden light refracted by the sun and the light blue reflected by the sky, merged into a spreading colorful ripple on the water’s surface.

This fleeting beauty was extremely impactful. I quickly recorded the scene with my phone. When sorting out the materials later, the blending forms of colors and the changing rhythm of light and shadow continued to tug at my heartstrings. It drove me to use paint as a medium, transforming this color ripple, a gift from nature, into a touchable and gaze – worthy work of art, allowing the beauty that was once short – lived to gain an eternal artistic life.
